The CEO opportunity and accountabilities:
• Ensuring that there is a coherent strategy to address the opportunities and challenges facing the business.
• Ensuring there is a leadership team with the skills and capabilities to both conceive and execute that strategy.
• Setting expectations, delegating, data-driven monitoring and holding others to account.
• Creating an organisation design and set of processes that allow the company of 90 people to be directed against the vision, motivated and organised to deliver.
- Ensure coherent management processes across the company.
- Attracting, retaining and growing the right people.
- Match talent to value opportunity and avoid adequate performers in key positions.
- Performance management, giving feedback and letting people go when required.
- Focusing on the execution of guiding the organisation and holding it accountable to the strategy it has conceived.
- Willingness to be bold in allocating and reallocating resources.
- Prioritising and willingness to make tough trade-offs.
• Understanding the customers and market in which the business operates, and instilling this behaviour in the rest of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful CEO to do everything necessary to deliver on the points above. You will be responsible for:
• The performance of the company.
• Selecting and managing your team.
• Making sure the company has a strong customer-focused culture.
• Ensuring the business can live within its means and grow.
Required career experience:
• You have either been in leadership positions, including either a CEO role or a leadership position in a software business targeting a technical audience, and have seen a company go from low millions to tens of millions of revenue. You will have been instrumental in that journey.
• Or, you have been a CPO, having been a strong software engineer, and having succeeded in product management roles, earlier in your career.
• Proficient at customer interaction, both in terms of understanding their problems and needs, building relationships with them, and selling to them.
• Familiar and possibly an expert in designing a sales and marketing organisation that can sell to large businesses.
• An intelligent pragmatist. You have a bias to action; once you have conviction in a course of action others find themselves getting things done they might not otherwise have.
