The Head of Business Development will play a crucial role in expanding the company’s market presence by identifying and securing new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and driving sales of their hydrogen equipment solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the renewable energy sector, and will possess exceptional skills in relationship building, strategic thinking and sales.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Sales and Revenue Growth – Drive sales initiatives to meet or exceed revenue targets. This includes prospecting, qualifying leads, and converting opportunities into long-term partnerships and sales. Inbound and outbound leads are responded to quickly and efficiently to maximise win rates. All aspects of the sales process are handled efficiently and fully documented.
- Market Research and Analysis – Conduct in-depth market research to identify emerging trends, competitive landscape, and potential business opportunities in the hydrogen and renewable energy sectors.
- Strategic planning – Develop and implement business development strategies that align with the company’s growth objectives, including target market identification, value proposition developments and go-to-market strategies.
- Partnership development – Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including governments, industry bodies, technology providers and potential clients.
- Client Relationship Management – Build and manage relationships with existing and prospective clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions to meet those needs.
- Contract negotiation – Lead negotiations of commercial agreements, including pricing, terms, and conditions to secure favourable outcomes for the company.
- Cross Functional Collaboration – Work closely with the engineering, finance and production teams to ensure alignment of business development efforts with product capabilities and company messaging.
- Reporting and Analysis – Prepare regular reports on business development activities, including pipeline status, market feedback, and performance against targets. Provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Industry engagement – Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows and networking events to enhance the company’s visibility and thought leadership in the hydrogen space.The role will require some national and occasional international travel to meet with colleagues, clients, partners and attend events.
