Chief Marketing Officer for Berlin based eCommerce company
A Berlin based VC backed ecommerce company had an urgent requirement for a CMO after securing significant investment. Due to the nature of the position our client wanted a global search focused on recruiting a C-Level Marketing professional ideally from Europe or the USA. The CMO would be responsible for Performance and Consumer Marketing and managing a team focused on all performance based marketing activities (SEO, SEA, Display Marketing, Retargeting, Affiliate Marketing). There was a current team of 12 with a plan in place to recruit a further 4 marketing professionals.
Our tech company executive search team market mapped tech companies across Europe and the USA and targeted the best senior CMO professionals in the ecommerce industry. We first exhausted our all of our senior marketing candidate network throughout Europe and the USA and spoke to approx. 80 suitable CMO professionals. We then focused our search on headhunting from our client’s direct competitors which were approved by our client. At this level our peerless network of senior CMO professionals that we have built up and worked with over the years came into its own, especially when carrying out background checks and cross-referencing.
Our tech company recruitment team submitted our shortlisted candidates 14 days after receiving the brief. After a rigorous search and interview process we presented our final five qualified candidates to the client. Five candidates were jeans subsequently shortlisted to interview and meet the CEO and the board in Berlin before our client selected the strongest candidate.
